Womens 1st XI vs Brentwood 2

A very wet morning saw Romford Ladies 1xi and travelled away to Brentwood for the last game before the Christmas break.

Romford ladies had a slow start and in the first half with the weather getting the best of them and no coach to get us going

Brentwood opened the scoring with a goal at around the 17 minute mark, a weak clearance from the Romford defence gifted the Brentwood attackers a lovely ball at the top of the Romford D for Brentwood to maximise this opportunity and score. Romford didn't get their heads down with Brentwood continuing to attack hard the Romford fought well to keep it 1-0 at half time, Brentwood were relentless in their forward attack all the way to the half time whistle.

The half-time team talk by Captain Katie Williams and the ever-present assistant coach. Ash gave the ladies some great feedback for things to work on with Romford coming out strong from the break. With Romford now finding their flow and playing the game on their terms, Brentwood were left wanting from the strong Romford ladies. Some amazing saves from Goalkeeper Lisa kept Brentwood at bay even with some very skilful 1 v 1 attacks against her. All the Romford defence battled hard with clearing the lines and feeding the ball through to the midfielders to up build up play, which allowed for some great counter attacks for Romford. The forwards and midfielders linked in well for a strong handful of attacks all just being stopped by the Brentwood defence. A 1 v 1 from striker Sonata put the Brentwood keeper under pressure, but there was just no finish in it. A flurry of short corners against Brentwood keep Romford on the upper foot. Minutes from the end of the game, Sonata Beach received a great pass from just outside the 22 to turn on her reverse and shoot with the ball ending up buried in the bottom left corner. 1-1, the Romford ladies took the final whistle seeming to want more but accepting the well-deserved point on the board.
