Womens 1st XI vs Southend 2

Romford ladies travelled to Southend today in once again unusually warm temperatures, this really was a game of 2 halves, Southend started very strongly, with 2 very quick goals against us and in my humble opinion the gk should have done better! Despite this unexpected turn of events romford settled down and started to fight back and with their continued pressure, Romford also managed 2 quick goals with Ellie scoring twice with some lovely play by the forwards and mids working together, making the halftime team talk a much happier one. This gave Romford the much needed boost and confidence to control the 2nd half and try and attack at every opportunity, Romford defence shut all doors in the 2nd half and gave Southend nothing to work with. This was a game where the mids and forwards really dominated and controlled the game and finally getting their much deserved winning goal scored by Kemi, great support play with assists coming from the midfield. Lucy and Sonata your constant running up and down the wings with good discipline and positioning, Kemi, Emma, Katie and Loz your constant support and positioning was brilliant. Special mention for Ellie who got her brace with 2 great placed goals. The defence settled much better in the 2nd half with Steph, Abbie and Abs who was playing out of position, and with borrowed astros done some brilliant tackles, and with Loz dropping back they done a sterling job of keeping the door firmly shut. This was a lesson in never giving up until the final whistle and a magnificent turn around, giving Romford their first win of the season and 3 precious points in the bag. Happy coach. Happy team, happy days.
