On Saturday 11th November Romford Ladies 1 met Waltham Forest 2 at Drapers’ Academy. During the first half, Romford had a few short corners to defend, however, Lisa and the defence team worked hard displaying excellent saves, run outs and clearances.
There was continued running, strength and delivery from the midfield, especially player of the match Lucy.
As a team, Romford held back a little when meeting balls in comparison to the opposition. This was highlighted and discussed in the half time chat and was much improved in the second half.
Just before the half time whistle (34min), a short corner awarded to Watham Forest resulted in a goal.
The second half see a change in formation for Romford with a game plan to push forward. With the tempo increased, Romford forwards won more short corners (with none to defend) in attack, which led to their first goal. An assist from Loz at the top of the D, allowed Katie to take advantage of the rebound from the defence, 1-1.
A few minutes later, another attacking short corner see Loz get on the score sheet. A strong shot in the bottom right corner put Romford in the lead, 2-1.
Katie made the final score 3-1 which began with a short corner strike in from Loz. The rebound collected by Emma then crossed the ball to a waiting Katie to take home the win!
Well done everyone!
