Womens 1st XI vs Brentwood 2

It was very hot, as usually for the first game back.

We were all raring to go for the first game of the season. We set off this campaign with our new formation and welcomed some new faces.

In the first 15 minutes we had the majority of the possession using the pivot and distributing the ball well. There was some lovely play from Cienna to Abbie Lagden and Lucy which helped us progress up the pitch. We had some great crosses into the D but we were unable to convert. Quick water break. Unfortunately Brentwood were a little quicker off the mark and unfortunately due to a little bit of miscommunication in defending Brentwood managed to convert a goal from a bouncing ball.

Second half and we came out much stronger, and dominanted, admin Ash provided us with some much needed insight, Abbie Sharman and Katie had some great link up play that allowed us to progress up the pitch. When Brentwood broke Loz and Cienna picked up their key players preventing any further threat to our goal, they both managed to distribute the ball back out to Kemi who helped Romfords attack up the right with Lucy, a nice few 1-2s and a short corner awarded to Romford. Short corner converted 1-1. Right on the second drinks break and a quick change in formation, we bought Leah up to the forward line to help support Ellie, this allowed us to play higher and dominate play for the final 15 minutes. There was some super stops from Abbie Sharman out on the left that stopped Brentwood attacks, who managed to recycle play from left to right....Game ended with Romford on the up, 1-1.
